Programme structure

First and second year

In the first two years you will create a broad base for the rest of your education. You will go through all the basics disciplines necessary for games design. As a ‘GDP’ student you learn the basics skills of game art, 2D/3D and game design, using storyboards, mood boards, and tools like Photoshop, Flash pro, Maya and Unity3D. You also learn the basics of programming within Action Script 3 and Unity3D. Topics like Advertising, Interaction Design, 3D Animation, Marketing and Producing are taught in these first two years.

The second year ends with a full-time project for an external company. At the end of the second year you’ll create a graduation plan helping you determine where you want to go for an internship and where your focus for the next two years will be. Specialization, research, personal skills and professional development are the major topics here.

Third and fourth year

In the third year you´ll have to find an internship for approximately 5 months in a company were you are a co-worker while studying the ways the company works, their methods, their workflows and their profession.
After that you can focus on the topic of your choice for five months, also known as your ‘specialization’. Within certain restrictions, you are going to choose in which domain you want to specialize.
The fourth year starts with the minor. The minor enables you to broaden your vision by choosing from the many minors Saxion offers, or even from another university. You may want to explore entrepreneurship as a preparation for running your own Independent Game Company or anything that suits you to create the best games out there!
After all these steps are completed you are ready for your graduation project. This is where you show which skills you have developed within the context of a company assignment.

People are always looking for the best graphics, the lasts gadgets, the coolest, the fastest computer, the coolest games.
