Prague Film School’s year filmmaking program focuses on the four core filmmaking disciplines of:
First semester, students follow an interdisciplinary curriculum in each of the core areas listed above.
Second semester, students specialize in areas of interest pursuing courses in practical, theory and advanced subjects.
By the end of the first year, students finish close to 30 films. This is in parallel and intersecting with the classes which cover theory and practice.
The semester program is cross-disciplinary, emphasizing the core disciplines of directing, cinematography, screenwriting and editing. Each student has the option to direct four film productions, the last one being his or her diploma film. The program is structured in a way that the four films made in the course of the semester reflect a gradual progression from the absolute basics of filmmaking to the successful completion of a well crafted film at the end of the semester.
Second semester students specialize in areas of interest through their choice of specialization, advanced and elective courses. Students are encouraged to continue taking courses in all core program areas but can petition to place out of one or two areas, compensating the lost classes through specialization courses.
