The operation of financial markets is one of the most complex topics of study due to what underlies them: interactions among human beings, with all their conceptions and misconceptions about the reactions of other human beings.

With increasing financial transactions across international borders, this topic is becoming even more complex. This programme provides you with advanced mathematical and empirical tools to reasonably investigate patterns in financial data and provides a solid background in advanced financial theory to consider the sources of those patterns.

In the spring semester of the master programmes there is a 15 credit thesis assignment supervised by professors at JIBS.

Career opportunities

This education prepares students for positions demanding advanced analytical skills in financial economics and statistics. Such positions are mainly found in the financial sectors but are also found in other parts of private and public sectors around the world. The programme also prepares students for doctoral research education.
