The MRes Clinical and Health Research programme is open to all healthcare professionals who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills that are central to clinical research.
You can complete this programme over one year full time or up to five years part time, making it a particularly flexible option.
Furthermore, it is a recognised component of the National Institute of Health Research Clinical Academic Careers Training Pathway.
Past students on the MRes masters in clinical and health research programme have included: nurses, doctors and midwives, as well as allied healthcare practitioners.
However, the course is also open to non-clinicians who are involved in clinical research and wish to improve their understanding and abilities.
At the outset of your MRes Clinical and Health Research studies you will be given the choice of two pathways: the clinical academic pathway and the health research pathway.
The clinical academic pathway is ideal if you wish to combine clinical practice and research in a career where you become a leader in the undertaking or implementation of research findings.
Alternatively, the health research pathway is the one for you if you are engaged in the management and conduct of research, or wish to pursue this line of work in the future.
The dissertation and clinical research in practice modules represent the core content for all pathways.
If you do not complete the MRes you be eligible for the award of postgraduate diploma in clinical and health research if you have successfully completed modules amounting to 60 ECTS.
Alternatively, you may receive the award of postgraduate certificate in clinical and health research if you have successfully completed modules amounting to 30 ECTS.
