Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, animator, digital filmmaker, illustrator, web designer or motion graphics designer, this course will develop your work through innovation, exploration and self-directed study.
This course is designed for ambitious practitioners who are looking to hone their future directions, post graduation, or who are already working in the creative and media industries.
The programme provides an opportunity to work with experienced academics with proven track records in creative practice and the media industries, using state-of-the-art facilities.
It enables you to test and progress your work and ideas informed by cutting-edge, international contexts of digital design and creative practice and by the challenging ethical and theoretical debates surrounding these.
In addition to professional practice, you will also engage with experimental investigation and ethical issues. Modules are designed to encourage innovative practice within individual disciplines and collaboratively across disciplines. In the Independent Study module, you pursue an in-depth exploration of the critical, theoretical, creative and practical aspects within a specialist field. In addition, there is the opportunity to acquire knowledge of entrepreneurial and business skills.
The course will enable you to effectively manage the balance of creativity and technical knowledge, and will develop your production techniques and strategies. Effective research, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of digital media will also be developed.
The course is supported by a central bank of excellent digital media facilities, such as Macintosh computers running industry standard digital media software, and smaller studio spaces for digital media experimentation, research, production and development work. There is a 48 track digital sound recording studio, a digital video production studio with full lighting rig, blue screen technology and multi-camera studio facilities, as well as digital video editing facilities and web servers.
