You will spend a significant proportion of the first two years
studying the key areas of psychology which include: biological
psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental
psychology and individual differences.

You will be taught how to conduct psychological research, taking
these key areas into consideration at all times. In the first and
second year, you will learn about psychological research methods and
the statistical analyses that researchers in psychology use. In the
final year you will design and conduct your own research. You will
analyse and present your results in the form of an independent project
in the area of psychology.

You will also take a placement module with an external organisation
which will give you valuable experience, enable skill development and
enhance your employability.

your final year.

Career opportunities

While many of our graduates go on to work as psychologists, students
have also gone on to become researchers, lecturers, teachers,
administrators, practitioners and managers or entered into the caring
and health professions.

We have designed this course so that you are equipped with a range of
skills and competencies that will set you apart from other graduates
and make you attractive to potential employers. Our tutorial system
focuses on the development of skills such as group work, conducting
literature reviews, critical analysis and being able to construct and
deliver presentations.

Some of our students have chosen to work abroad in placements in
their summer holidays and they receive help in identifying relevant
placements. This and the longer work placements improve your career
