At Coventry we believe passionately that becoming an engineer is so
much more than studying the theory and passing examinations. We have
designed our degree programme to give you the experience to develop
the expertise necessary for the electronic engineering profession.
The course provides a broad coverage of the essentials of electronic
engineering and its key applications and is taught by a group of
committed academics with technical research expertise and considerable
industrial experience. Throughout your three years of study, the
technical aspects of the course are balanced with the development of
professional skills and expertise that all employers prize highly in
their graduate recruits.
If you choose this course you will benefit from:
- Accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology
- Experienced teaching staff who bring professional or research
expertise into their teaching
- An annual programme of extracurricular lectures on engineering and
computing topics presented by the Institution of Engineering and
Technology (IET) and the British Computer Society (BCS) which gives
you an opportunity to meet professionals from industry
- Placement opportunities with companies such as the National Grid,
GlaxoSmithKline, Severn Trent Water and Mercedes Benz through our
professional training programme

The degree starts with a broad-based first year which covers the
fundamentals of the electrical and electronic subject area. It ensures
that students from many different backgrounds are prepared for a
detailed study of electronics.
You will continue to study electronics and be introduced to some of
its specialist application areas in the second year. Modules include
Engineering Management, Communications Systems, and an Embedded
Microprocessors Group Project.
The final year balances study between advanced electronics
techniques, the main application areas for electronics and project
work that will take you to the level of a junior professional engineer
working in the electronics industry. Your individual project will see
you working closely with your own academic supervisor to develop
research aspects of electronic systems.
