| Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) We are looking for highly motivated creative students with some prior experience in animation or a related area. Usually applicants will have an undergraduate degree in the Visual Arts but those with other academic qualifications or relevant professional experience are also encouraged to apply. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. You must take verified copies of the entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

| Other requirements | At least 2 reference(s) must be provided. The reference should be on letterhead paper and preferably typewritten. A motivation letter must be added to your application. A relevant portfolio is required. All applicants are carefully reviewed and shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. As part of the interview you will be expected to articulate a clear vision of the potential role of animation in the development of your own creative practice. You will also be asked to make a short presentation of previous work relevant to animation and your potential development in this field. Skype or telephone interviews will be arranged for international applicants. |

Overview
The course is based at Bower Ashton Campus, part of City Campus, where exceptional facilities and resources include state-of-the-art digital media, production and fabrication workshops offer a combination of traditional tools and the latest technology.
Based in Bristol, a global centre of excellence in animation, film and television production, it attracts students from around the world. Bristol is the place to study animation, home to Aardman Animations, Arthur Cox and other internationally renowned animation companies.
The course is taught via practical workshops, a rolling programme of guest lecturers and industry speakers and there are opportunities for work experience within the industry.
Animation students also get to work collaboratively with students on other postgraduate programmes, including MA Documentary and Features and MA Wildlife Filmmaking and with external organisations including the BBC, the BFI and composers from the Royal Academy of Music.
Career opportunities
This postgraduate course will allow you to return to industry with enhanced skills and further experience or start afresh in the diverse field of animation. The course content and structure enables you to pursue your interests and specialisms whether in 2D/drawn, CG, stop motion or other forms of animation in a range of roles including direction, production, storyboarding, model-making, layout, design and teaching.
Past students have gained employment and worked on productions throughout the worldwith companies such as: Aardman Animations, Wonky, Rumpus and Sun and Moon.
