Overview
This two-year course develops skills in business and international management while also offering a pathway in marketing.
The first year is the same as MSc Business with International Management. You’ll then undertake a second year that develops the ‘Marketing’ pathway. Specialist modules will cover advertising and marketing communications strategy as well as interactive and relationship marketing.
You’ll develop your research skills through a Masters dissertation or an investigative consultancy project related to an issue faced by a real client. You’ll also explore contemporary issues in management research.
There is no requirement to have studied business, international management or marketing at undergraduate level.
The course is covered by the prestigious AACSB accreditation for Newcastle Business School, which was ‘Business School of the Year’ at The Times Higher Education Awards 2015.
Career opportunities
Our graduates typically go into professional and graduate management positions and, by the end of the course, you’ll be well-equipped to follow them. Your knowledge and skills, including your specialisms in international management and marketing, will help you turn good businesses into great ones.
Some employers require completion of a two-year Masters and this course will meet their requirement.
If you decide to start up your own business, it’s good to know that the combined turnover of our graduates’ start-up companies is higher than that of any other UK university.
The course could also lead you to a postgraduate research degree such as an MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate.
Whatever you decide to do, you will have the transferable skills that employers expect from a Masters graduate from Northumbria University. These include the ability to tackle complex issues through conceptualisation and undertaking research, the ability to contribute to new processes and knowledge, and the ability to formulate balanced judgements when considering incomplete or ambiguous data.
