BA (Hons) 3D Design engenders a creative, analytical and skilful approach to the designing and making of products and furniture.
You will join a community of staff and students who share a firmly held conviction that an understanding of how to make something leads the designer to better understand the logic of use, the potential for beauty and the ability to place the activity of design in a broader cultural, environmental and economic context.
A creative studio culture and thoughtful workshop practice engenders an understanding that however ephemeral a trend or how immaterial a technology or intuitive an interface might be, manufactured ‘things’ play important roles as the props and backdrop to the theatre of everyday life.
The course vision is to create the most able graduates – primed to make significant contributions to their chosen field of professional design practice.
Your course in brief
Delivered via hands-on projects in a studio environment, our first year is a fast-paced introduction to the design and making skills fundamental to professional 3D design practice.
A focus on developing high-level workshop skills sees our second year students realise increasingly sophisticated and intelligent responses to design projects.
Throughout a year of self-directed projects, third year students develop their own programme of research and practice, developing the skills necessary to make valuable contributions to industry.
Our graduates go on to forge successful careers as designers and makers across the creative industries sector. We also support entrepreneurial graduates who are keen to set up their own businesses through our Designers in Residence Scheme.
We are currently NOT ACCEPTING applications from NON-EU countries, except Georgia and Serbia.
