Overview

Food security and the role of agriculture in stimulating economic growth are key issues in international development in today’s challenging global environment. Globally, food production needs to increase by 50% over the coming 2–3 decades to feed a growing world population, while at the same time reducing the environmental impacts of agricultural production. This programme focuses on agriculture in developing countries and draws on our unrivalled pool of expertise in issues of crop and livestock production, pest and disease management, agricultural marketing, biotechnology, biosecurity and agroforestry. The programme is focussed around providing students with the key concepts needed to address these issues, learning from real case studies delivered by experts who are actively implementing sustainable agriculture projects around the world.
